She was pointing in my direction, which of course made me very uncomfortable. I did not want to seem suspicious, I've never done well not looking suspicious. The woman was becoming more emphatic in her pointing and the cops were looking like they felt the need to do something. Oh shit, I thought, would it be suspicious to run, would it be suspicious to turn the corner? I then decided to put on my sunglasses, that would do it.
I threw them on and the cops stopped looking at me and the woman started to come down. Shit, these sunglasses saved my ass, and to think I was going to send them to Salvation Army with all my baseball hats and T-shirts. I hung on to them only because the sunglasses should always be the last thing to go.
Moral: The sunglasses should always be the last thing to go.
