POTW #708
(Week of 20 December, 2009)

Inspired by a plush toy, and also influenced by the city of Los Angeles and something somebody said to me last night at a party.

The Christmas Frog

The Christmas frog does not bring any presents
Some find his rubbery moistness unpleasant
He can't soar over rooftops like reindeer will do
But if you've got flies, he will eat them for you

The Christmas smog is an off-off-white hue
It's more of an earthy, caffe latte-colored brew
White Christmas is sterile and stark and forbidding
Brown is the color of caring and giving

The Christmas grog is nothing like eggnog
But who needs that sweet, sultry, creamy old dog?
This bolsters traditions of family upheaval
And everyone knows uncooked eggs are pure evil

And the Christmas blog is no hand-crafted card*
But the RSS feed sends its kindest regards
Like the holiday recap it speaks of the hectic
Like the lights on the tree it sings Christmas electric

(*Speaking of which, we apologize to our friends and family for not having managed to send a card this year.)
